Son won't sleep unless I'm holding him. Is this normal at 3 weeks?

My wife says I'm creating bad habits but honestly I don't care right now. The second I put him down in the bassinet he starts crying. I end up just holding him for like 4-5 hours straight while I scroll my phone. My arms are dead but there's something about it that makes me feel like I'm doing something right as a dad. Should I be worried about this or just let it happen while he's still this small?

Three weeks in you're doing great by just getting through the day. The sleep thing gets better, I promise. We all do what works at 3 AM and figure out the habits later. Hang in there buddy.

Dude, at 3 weeks this is totally normal. My first wouldn't sleep unless I was holding him either, and honestly those moments went by so fast I'm glad I just held him instead of worrying about it. Your wife will come around once she sees he's not going to be held at college.
