First kid due in August. We live in an urban area (Portland) with lots of stairs and mixed terrain. The Uppababy Vista keeps getting recommended but it's so expensive. Bugaboo seems cooler but also expensive. Are these worth it or am I getting suckered by marketing? What do you all actually use?
Have you looked at Mockingbird? It's basically the Vista alternative without the premium price tag. Made for exactly your situation—urban, compact, terrain-ready. Half the cost of Vista.
Portland weather + city life = Vista wins. The larger canopy is better for rain, and the terrain handling matters more than "cool factor." That said, check Facebook marketplace—people sell barely-used ones for $400-500.
For Portland specifically with stairs/terrain, the Vista is probably worth it even though it's pricey. It maneuvers well in tight spaces and handles uneven ground better than Bugaboo. You'll use it constantly for like 3 years so cost-per-use isn't terrible.
I went with Vista and it's been solid for almost 4 years now. Pricey upfront but it's reselling for like 40% of original which is better than most strollers. For Portland terrain specifically it's built right.

Bugaboo looks cooler but Vista is the workhorse. The real question is: what are you actually using it for? If it's mostly urban with stairs, Vista. If you do more hiking/outdoor stuff, different calculus.
