The craziest thing that's happened since baby arrived (and we're only 2 weeks in)
So our dog (golden retriever, normally super chill) got jealous and literally tried to get into the bassinet at 2am. We were awake anyway because baby was crying so at least we caught it but WTF. Now we're paranoid about leaving them in the same room even though intellectually I know he wouldn't actually hurt the baby.
Have we broken our dog? Is he gonna try to attack his new sibling constantly? This was not on my list of postpartum concerns. Send help (and maybe dog trainer recommendations for the Seattle area?)
Dogs and new babies is always weird because they don't understand sudden life changes either. Has the golden calmed down since then or is he still being weird about the bassinet?
This is actually a sign your dog needs more attention/exercise. They act out when they're anxious about big changes. Giving him some dedicated one-on-one time (away from baby) might help with the jealousy thing.
