Took our 2yo to the park today and felt like a real dad for once
Sounds stupid but hear me out. We went to Riverside Park in Portland this morning, and my son actually played independently for like 20 minutes without needing me. He was climbing on the playground, laughing, covered in dirt. I sat on the bench and just... watched him be a little person? Felt proud in a way I haven't since he was born. Those early months were just survival mode. This is different.
Doesn't sound stupid at all. These moments are what it's all about. The fact that he was actually engaged and having fun means you did good.
