When did you feel bonded to your newborn?

My son is 8 days old and I love him but honestly I don't feel that overwhelming connection yet. My wife seems instantly obsessed and I'm over here feeling like I'm just keeping him alive and that's enough for now. Is something wrong with me? My dad friends say they felt the same way but it hits different when it's you. Anyone else take a while to bond?

Don't stress about it, man. I'm on one sleepless night after another with my newborn and it's been a journey getting there. The bond builds as you get to know your kid, not all at once.

8 days in, dude, that's totally normal. I didn't feel the full connection until maybe a few weeks in when things settled down. Your brain's probably still in shock and running on no sleep. It comes.

Honestly, I felt the same way at first with my daughter. Give it time. You're doing the work, changing diapers, being present, and that's where the connection grows.
