In the hospital they made holding look so complicated. Now at 2 weeks I'm still nervous about his neck, like it's going to snap. I know it won't but I'm not confident yet. Do you just... eventually feel normal holding your own kid or does this anxiety stick around?
The fear is completely normal at 2 weeks. Wait until he starts rolling around - then the real panic begins.
Two weeks in and you're doing fine. The nervousness means you care. By month two you'll be doing diaper changes one handed while eating cereal.
That feeling goes away gradually. Around 6-8 weeks you'll realize you've been holding him like a football and he's totally fine. You got this.
I remember being terrified of the soft spot on his head. Now my son is 3 and I've dropped him twice. He's surprisingly resilient.
Support the head and neck, that's basically it. You've probably already figured this out by now and you're doing great.
