Daughter is 8 weeks and has been doing the random smiles but nothing directed at us yet. Some guys at work said their kids were smiling back by 6 weeks and now I'm second guessing everything. Is she behind? Should I be worried? She's eating fine and hitting other milestones. Just want to know what normal looks like.
8 weeks is still early, man. Don't stress about it yet. My daughter is 12 weeks now and just started doing the real targeted smiles last week. The random ones are cute but yeah, totally different when they recognize you and smile because they know who you are.
Mine didn't really do the purposeful smile until about 10-11 weeks, and honestly it was like a switch flipped overnight. One day random, the next day she was clearly looking right at me and grinning. The wait is brutal but it's coming.
