When did your baby smile for the first time?

My son is 8 weeks old and I swear he smiled at me yesterday but my wife thinks it was just gas. I'm pretty sure it was a real smile though. We've been waiting for this milestone and I got so excited I called both my parents and her parents lol. Am I being that guy? When did your babies start actually smiling on purpose?

It was probably a smile. At 8 weeks they definitely start doing real smiles, not just gas smiles. The gas ones are usually more random but the real smiles come when they're looking at you or responding to your voice. That's such a cool moment.
Man when my son first smiled at me I felt like I won the lottery. Your wife might be right to be skeptical but honestly either way it's worth celebrating. Even if it IS gas, you're the one he's doing it for so take the win.
