My boy is 6 weeks old and I swear he knows me now. Different cry when I pick him up vs when mom picks him up. Makes eye contact and coos at me. Is that real or am I imagining things because I want it to be true? My dad friends are saying their kids started doing this around 2 months so I think I'm on track but would love to hear when you guys experienced this.
They definitely recognize patterns and voices way sooner than people think. My daughter started showing preference around 8 weeks. The mom knows best mentality is strong but trust your gut on what you're observing with your own kid.

Dude yes, that's totally real. The cooing and eye contact at 6 weeks means he knows you're his person. Soak it up because this stage goes by so fast.
6 weeks is still early but honestly I wouldn't be surprised. Babies pick up on voice and routine pretty quick. Derek here with two kids and I'm telling you that recognition moment is one of the best feelings as a dad. Way better than I expected.
Dude yes. My boy is 6 weeks too and he definitely cries different for me vs his mom. I think it's partly the different way we hold them and partly they actually do know us. The pediatrician said recognizing parents starts around 4-6 weeks so you're right on schedule.
That's awesome! My son is 8 weeks now and I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the same thing. Mom swears I'm imagining it but the difference in his cry is definitely real to me. It's such a cool moment when you realize they actually know who you are.

Six weeks and he's already got you figured out! Mine is 8 weeks now and I'm pretty sure she knows the difference between me and my wife's voice at this point. That's when it hits you that this little person actually recognizes YOU specifically. It's wild.
