When did your baby start smiling and actually recognizing you?

We're at 6 weeks and I'm dying for my son to actually recognize me and smile at me. Right now he just looks through me like I'm not even there. I know it's not real smiling yet but man I just want some acknowledgment that I exist. Anyone know when this gets better? And is it normal that I'm already obsessed with getting that first real smile?

6 weeks is still super early man. I remember that feeling of just wanting some kind of acknowledgment. Around 8-12 weeks you'll start seeing real smiles. It gets so much better.

This is the hardest part honestly. Those first few weeks feel like you're just keeping this potato alive and wondering if you're doing anything right. But I promise one day soon he'll lock eyes with you and smile and you'll forget all about these early days.

The wait is brutal but it's coming soon. Our son didn't really smile for real until about week 8 and then it was like a switch flipped. Hang in there.
