When did your baby start smiling at you?

My daughter is 6 weeks old and I swear she smiled at me yesterday but everyone says it was probably gas. It didn't look like gas though, her whole face lit up when I was talking to her. This is killing me waiting for that first real smile. Any of you remember when yours actually started? I need to know if I'm crazy or if this could be real.

Whether it's real or gas, if it made you feel connected to her in that moment then it counts. I learned quick not to get too caught up in the timeline stuff. Just enjoy it.

Could be a real smile! At 6 weeks some babies do start smiling, even if it's not always intentional. I was convinced mine was smiling at 5 weeks and honestly who cares if it was gas, it made me happy so I'm claiming it.

6 weeks is pretty early but babies are weird and unpredictable. My daughter was definitely doing social smiles by 7-8 weeks. Take the win and don't overthink it. Those early smiles hit different.
