When did your kids start smiling and interacting?

My boy is 6 weeks old and still pretty much just eats and sleeps. I keep waiting for that moment where he actually looks at me and smiles and I feel like we're bonding. Right now it feels one-sided. When did you guys start feeling like your kids recognized you? Is it weird that I'm impatient for this?

Those early weeks feel long but you're right on schedule. One of my favorite memories is when my daughter finally looked me in the eye and smiled - totally worth the wait my friend.

Hang in there, that first real smile is coming soon and it'll blow your mind. My boy was the same at 6 weeks and then one day around 8-10 weeks it just clicked and he started responding to everything.

Man, I remember that exact feeling with my first. The smiles and interaction start ramping up pretty quick after week 8 or so. You're doing great just being present with him like this.
