When do you actually start feeling like a real parent?
Been a dad for 6 weeks now and honestly I still feel like I'm just going through the motions. I love my daughter but I don't feel that overwhelming connection everyone talks about. I read the guides, I change diapers, I feed her, but it all feels mechanical. Am I broken? When did the actual parenting instinct kick in for you guys? My dad friends keep saying it will click but I'm worried something is wrong with me.
The fact that you love the kid already puts you way ahead. You'll feel like a real parent the moment you stop asking yourself that question. Around month 3 or 4 for me it just shifted.
