Seriously. We just got discharged from the hospital Wednesday. They schedule our first appointment for Tuesday of the following week - exactly 9 days later when my wife is most exhausted and we're still figuring out feeding. Then it's another one at 1 month, then 2 months, then 4... I get that monitoring is important but the timing feels deliberately evil. Also why do they always have you come in the morning when that's when the baby is most fussy?

Wednesday discharge to a 2-week appointment sounds about right for hospital discharge timing. At least you're not going in with actual questions because your brain won't retain new information anyway.

Congrats on getting home though. Those first few days after discharge are surreal. I brought my son in for his 2-week appointment and I literally forgot how to talk in sentences. The pediatrician probably thought I had a stroke.

Pro tip: write down any concerns before you go because you will 100% forget why you wanted to ask about jaundice or whatever if you don't. Sleep deprivation hits different in those first two weeks.

The two week checkup scheduling is wild because that's when you're running on like 8 total hours of sleep for the week. You'd think they'd know new parents are barely functional at that point.
