Got a flyer for this art camp in our area - $400 for a week. Looks legit, teachers seem qualified, it's near home. My 8yo loves drawing.
But is it actually better than just buying supplies and doing projects at home? Or am I overthinking this and should just sign her up so she does something other than screens?

If your 8yo loves drawing, honestly a week of instruction from someone who knows what they're doing is worth way more than buying supplies and doing it yourself. Summer camps also give them independence
Not overpriced if she gets real instruction, but you could also split the difference - buy some nice supplies and do a few sessions at home, skip the camp. Depends if she's motivated or needs the structured environment
We did art camp last summer and my daughter talked about it for MONTHS. She made friends, learned techniques from actual artists, and came home so proud. Worth it imo

$400 for a week seems high unless it's like 9-5 daily. What's the actual hours and is it full day or half day? That matters for value
It depends on your situation honestly. If you're working full time and need childcare, it's not babysitting it's a service. If you're home and could do art with him, maybe try that first?
