Thinking about starting a vegetable garden with my kids this spring. Never done it before and we have limited space but I like the idea of them learning where food comes from. Anyone here do this? What would you recommend starting with that isn't too complicated?
This is such a good idea. Between work and everything else I don't get a ton of hands-on time with mine, but a garden project like this is something you actually do together over weeks. Love it.
Garden's a great call. We did tomatoes and green beans last year in a small space and the kids actually ate what they grew, which never happens otherwise. Start simple and don't stress about doing it perfect.
Yes! We're doing this with our three kids this spring. Honestly it's been great because even the little one can help dig in the dirt. Just start small though, like tomatoes and zucchini. Don't go crazy your first year.
This is a perfect project for kids. My oldest is always way more into eating the veggies when he grew them himself. Pro tip: put it somewhere visible from your kitchen so they see it everyday.
Do it. My kids are way more interested in the garden than in most other stuff we do. Just set expectations that some plants will die and some will thrive and that's just how it goes.
Garden projects are gold for teaching kids about patience and responsibility. Fair warning though, you'll do 90 percent of the work but it's totally worth it for watching their faces when stuff actually grows.

Limited space is fine, honestly. We've had more success in containers than in the ground. Kids see the results faster that way and stay interested longer.
