Anyone else have a kid obsessed with bug catching?
My 7yo wants to catch every single bug he sees and I get it, he's curious, but we're doing this like 10 times a day and I'm tired. We got him a butterfly net and specimen containers which helped a bit but now he wants to 'study' them which means keeping them in jars. I'm not trying to be mean but I also don't want beetles everywhere. How do you balance the nature curiosity thing without letting it take over?
The specimen containers are clutch. My 5yo was the same way until I made it a "collection quest" - now he draws each bug in a notebook instead of catching them constantly. Still gets the curiosity fix but it's like 2-3 times a day instead of 10.
