Spent the spring building raised beds, buying seeds, doing all that. By July the tomatoes were coming in great. Now my 4 year old and her friends use the garden as their personal dirt playground. Half the plants are snapped off. I'm not even mad anymore just laughing about it. Next year I'm putting a fence around it but honestly she had more fun destroying it than I had growing it so whatever.
My kids completely destroyed my garden setup too. I thought it would be educational but they just wanted to dig and throw things. The raised beds were actually great because it was easier to keep them contained but yeah the actual plants didn't make it.
Three kids here and I feel this in my soul. My oldest learned to help replant this summer and now she's protective of the beds. Might turn your daughter into your garden buddy next year.
Oh man, this is gonna be my life in a few years. At least your 4yo is having a blast though right? Gardens can be replanted, memories with her friends can't.
The tomatoes were coming in strong though right? That's the dream. At least until the kids discovered them. We had the same thing happen last year. All that work and the kids just wanted to stomp in the dirt anyway.

This is why I gave up on the garden after the first year. It's not the garden itself it's the kids using it as their personal playground. Now I just buy tomatoes from the store and save myself the heartbreak.
