Attempting to make homemade pasta with the kids

Watched a cooking show last night and got inspired to make fresh pasta from scratch with my 6 and 8 year old. How hard can it be right? I've got flour, eggs, and a lot of optimism. Already bracing myself for the mess because my kitchen is about to look like a war zone. If anyone has tips for making this less of a disaster I'm all ears. My wife thinks I'm crazy but she left the house so now we can just clean up our mess without judgment lol.
