Attempting to teach my 8 year old to cook - it's messy but awesome

Every Saturday morning now we make breakfast together. Last week pancakes from scratch, this week we're doing french toast. My kitchen looks like a disaster and it takes twice as long as if I just did it myself. But he's learning kitchen skills and we're talking about stuff he doesn't usually tell me about. Plus he eats way more when he made it himself. Highly recommend spending the extra time and dealing with the flour everywhere.
