Backyard fort building championship 2024 - our entry

No this isn't a real thing but honestly it should be. My kids and I spent an entire Saturday building what they're calling "Fort Winterfell" out of blankets, PVC pipe, and every pillow in the house.

It actually structurally makes sense?? I was shocked. They've been sleeping in it. Playing in it. It's been a week and they haven't abandoned it yet.

This should absolutely be a real thing. Way better than screen time and honestly more educational than some of the stuff they do at school.

This is legitimately cool. Fort building should be a competitive sport. The engineering that goes into some of these things is actually impressive when you watch kids really commit to the structure.

Did you use blankets and pillows or actual wood frames? Asking because I want to steal this idea for next weekend but don't want a structural disaster.

We tried something similar and my 5yo just wanted to throw blankets everywhere without any structural integrity. How did you keep your kids focused on the actual building part?

Dude the fact that you spent an entire day doing this with them is what parenting is actually about. Not the fort, but the time together. Awesome stuff.
