Bike camping trip with my 12yo went way better than expected
Honestly thought he'd complain the whole time but he actually stepped up. We did about 15 miles a day over 3 days, camped at state parks, and cooked everything on a camp stove. He navigated using maps (no GPS allowed - my rule), set up his own tent, and only complained once which is honestly a win.
The whole thing cost maybe $400 including gas and food. He's already asking when we can do it again. Not gonna lie, it felt good to see him realize he could do something hard.
15 miles a day at 12 is legit impressive. Did he have a favorite part of the trip or is he still sore and complaining now that you're home?
