Started this morning at 8am with my son. Got the main platform frame up and he helped me secure it to the oak tree. His idea to paint it blue instead of brown. Used about 40 feet of 2x8s and a ton of bolts. He's exhausted but already planning the rope bridge. Weather held up perfectly. Tomorrow we're doing the railings and maybe the pulley system. This is gonna be epic.

That's awesome man. How are you securing it to the tree? My son wants a treehouse too but I'm paranoid about safety. Did you get an arborist to check the tree first or just eyeball it?
This is the kind of stuff I live for. Getting my hands dirty with the kids on a real project beats any video game or screen time. Keep us posted on day 2, I want to see the final product.
