Started the treehouse project this morning. Got the main platform framed out with 2x8s bolted to the oak tree in our backyard. My son handed me tools the whole time and didn't complain once. We're taking tomorrow off to let the bolts set properly, then moving on to the railings. This is going to be epic. Anyone else build one of these? Tips welcome.
Day 1 and you're already killing it with the platform framed out. That's legit work. Enjoy these memories with your son, this is the stuff he'll remember forever.
This is so cool! How did you decide on bolting to the tree vs using a platform kit? I've been thinking about something similar with my 7 year old and would love to know what went into the planning.
This is so cool. Getting your kid involved in building something like that is way better than any toy you could buy. Day 1 getting the platform done is solid progress.
Your 7yo is helping with this or mostly watching? Either way that's awesome bonding. I'd be too nervous about safety to let mine actually help hammer stuff but I'd let them supervise.
Treehouse at 7 is perfect. My kids would lose their minds over something like that. How are you handling all the safety stuff with the bolts and hardware? Seems like that's where I'd worry the most.

That's awesome, man. Getting your son involved in the actual building is the real win here. My oldest loved handing me tools on a deck project last summer and talked about it for months after.
