Building a treehouse with my 7yo - in over my head?

So my son has been asking for a treehouse for like 2 years and I finally committed to it. Got some 2x8s, lag bolts, the whole deal. I've never done anything like this before but how hard can it be right? I'm planning to start this weekend. Anyone else built one of these? I'm mostly worried about making sure it's actually safe and not killing my kid. Any tips on weight limits or should I just hire someone?

Just make sure the tree is healthy and can handle the weight. I've seen some sketchy treehouses that I wouldn't let my kids near. Safety first, then cool factor second.

Two years of asking is serious dedication on his part. Even if it takes you a minute to figure it out, he's gonna be so stoked. Having his dad build something just for him is huge.

You got this. A treehouse is totally doable if you plan it right. Start with solid foundations and don't rush the safety stuff. Your kid is gonna remember this for the rest of his life.

Document the building process with photos. You'll want to remember this when he's older. Plus he'll love seeing how you made it happen.

That's awesome your son's been asking for two years and you're making it happen. Take your time with it, maybe break it into chunks if you can. Safety first but your kid is gonna think you're a legend.

Building something like that with your 7yo is pretty cool even if it feels over your head right now. Grab some help online or from a buddy if you need it - totally worth the effort.
