Building a treehouse with my kids - need some advice

Got the platform framed out last weekend and we're ready to start putting up walls. My 9yo and 11yo are actually interested which is shocking. Safety is my main concern. Anyone done this before? What are the critical things I shouldn't mess up? I'm using 2x8s for the main supports in a pretty solid oak tree.

That's awesome that your 9 and 11 year olds are actually interested. Mine would bail after 10 minutes. What kind of wood are you using for the walls? Make sure it's pressure treated if it's gonna be outside.
This is so cool. My kids would live in a treehouse if I built one. How are you planning the roof situation? I'd be paranoid about rain getting in there.
