Built a treehouse with my 7yo and it actually didn't collapse

So I had zero experience with this but my son was obsessed with having a treehouse. Spent all last Saturday with him hammering nails, measuring twice (okay maybe once), and laughing when we messed up the first support beam. Used some 2x6s we had in the garage and bolted everything into this giant oak tree. It's about 6 feet up, super solid, and now he won't come down. Best weekend project ever honestly.

Okay but real question - how sturdy is it actually? Like would you let your kids have friends up there or is it more of a solo operation? Asking for safety reasons obviously.

Dude, measuring twice and actually building something functional with a 7yo is a win in my book. I love doing projects like this with mine, that quality time hits different when you're both working toward something together.

This is awesome man, the fact that you just went for it without experience is the move. My kids remember the effort way more than the perfection, sounds like your son's gonna remember this forever.

Haha I respect the confidence in your own structural engineering. Did your son help build it or was it more of a you-project that he watched? Either way that's quality weekend mission material.

That's seriously impressive. Building anything with zero experience is hard enough without adding a 7yo into the mix. Did you use any plans or just wing it? My son has been begging for one too.
