Built a treehouse with my 7yo and it's actually not terrible
We spent last Saturday afternoon throwing together a basic platform in the oak tree in our backyard. Nothing fancy—2x8s, some lag bolts, a rope ladder. My kid helped drill holes and carry lumber, which honestly took 3x longer but watching him figure out the drill was worth it. The thing held both of us so I'm calling it a win. He's been out there every day since pretending it's a sniper nest. Wife thinks I'm insane but the pure joy on his face makes the inevitable HOA complaint worth it lol
The oak tree in your backyard is the lucky one here. That's the kind of memory kids actually keep. Way better than any toy you could buy them.
How long did it take? I feel like these projects either take 2 hours or they turn into an all day thing where you're both frustrated by hour 3.
