Built a treehouse with my 7yo and it's still standing

Spent last Saturday with my son building a treehouse in our backyard. Nothing fancy, just 2x4s, some rope, and a platform about 8 feet up. He was so excited picking out the wood at Home Depot. We worked until lunch and then again in the afternoon. My back is killing me but seeing his face when he climbed up for the first time was worth every ache. Already planning the rope bridge for next month.

Did your son get to do most of the building or were you mainly supervising? I'm curious how much a 7 year old can actually help with something like this.

That's awesome man. Getting your 7yo involved in building something real that actually stands is the kind of memory he's gonna remember forever. Those projects are the best part of being a dad.

That's so cool! My 2 year old would probably just knock it down but I'm definitely saving this idea for a few years from now when he understands construction a bit better.
