Took 4 weekends but we finally got it done. Used 2x8 pressure treated boards, bolted everything into this massive oak in our backyard. My 7 year old helped me drill holes even though he was nervous. Now he won't stop talking about it. We have a little ladder and a rope and it's legitimately cool. Best part is they actually play outside now instead of gaming all day.
This is the kind of thing that sticks with kids for life. Four weekends of focused time building something real together beats a lot of other stuff we do as dads.
Now that's a project. Pressure treated and bolted into an oak sounds solid as hell. Your kid's going to be telling people about this when he's older.
That's awesome. My toddler barely lets me sleep, let alone gives me four weekends to build anything, so mad respect for pulling this off. Your 7 year old is going to remember that treehouse forever.
We built one two years ago and my kids STILL talk about it. They actually take friends up there and show it off like they built the empire state building. Worth every penny and every weekend hour.
This is exactly the kind of project that builds memories AND teaches them something real about problem solving and hard work. Much better than screen time on a Saturday.

Four weekends and a treehouse still standing is impressive. Pressure treated lumber is the way to go. Did your boys help with the actual building or mostly watch?
