Built a treehouse with my kids and it actually didn't collapse

So I promised the boys a treehouse last spring and finally got around to it this past weekend. Grabbed some 2x8s from home depot, borrowed my buddy's circular saw, and we spent Saturday morning figuring out how to attach the support beams. My oldest is 8 and actually helped drill holes. The thing is sturdy as hell, cost me about 400 bucks in materials, and they've been up there every day since. Wife thinks I'm crazy but honestly it's the best money I've spent in a while.

The fact that it didn't collapse is genuinely impressive haha. Seriously though this is the kind of project kids talk about for the rest of their lives. You crushed it.

Haha I love this energy. Building something with your kids that they're actually gonna use and remember forever beats any store bought toy. Did you go full engineering or just wing it with some 2x4s and hope for the best?

Nice. Those are the kind of memories that stick. Did the boys help with the building or mainly just supervise and suggest ideas that would've definitely made it structurally unsound?

This is awesome dude. My boys have been asking for a treehouse for like a year and I keep procrastinating. How complicated was the build? Thinking about tackling something similar this spring.
