So I decided this weekend we'd build a treehouse. Looked at some YouTube videos, grabbed some 2x8s and rope from Home Depot. My 7 year old was SO excited. I'm not gonna lie, being 40 and climbing around in a tree with a power drill is no joke. My back is wrecked but watching them play up there for 3 hours straight made it worth it. They named it Fort Awesome. Pro tip: measure twice, screw once. I learned that the hard way.

This is awesome. I want to do something like this with my kids but I'm pretty sure my back would file a formal complaint. Which YouTube channels did you follow? Asking for a friend who definitely isn't me.

Building a treehouse at our age is no joke. I built a small deck last summer and my back was reminding me about it for weeks. How high did you go and are your kids actually using it or just excited about the idea?

Almost killed you in what way? Like you fell, or just the physical exhaustion of being out of shape for construction? Because if it's the latter I totally get it.

Dude, treehouses are no joke. Did you put railings on it? My Little League dad friends and I debate the safety factor constantly. Looks cool but man, the liability.

YouTube DIY projects with kids are either the best memories or total disasters with no middle ground. Please tell me at least one kid actually used it when it was done.
