Built a treehouse with my kids and it's actually structurally sound

So I decided to tackle the treehouse project my 7 year old has been bugging me about for like 2 years. Spent most of Saturday watching YouTube videos on load bearing and safety, then Sunday morning we started. Used reclaimed wood from my neighbor's fence tear down and some 2x8s from Home Depot. The kids helped drill holes and I made sure everything was properly bolted. Took way longer than I thought (kids get distracted every 5 minutes) but we got the main platform done. Tested it with my weight first because I'm paranoid about them getting hurt. Structurally it's solid. They've been up there like 20 times already and my wife is way less worried than I expected. Next weekend we're adding railings.

That's awesome man. I built a basic one with my boy last year and we're still out there every weekend. The fact that you actually made it structurally sound puts you ahead of most of us. Did you use any special brackets or just go full traditional with rope and wood?

How long did this take you? I've been considering one for my twins but honestly I'm intimidated by the whole structural soundness part. Don't want anything collapsing on them.
