Campfire cooking disaster - need recovery ideas
Tried to make those foil packet meals over the fire last night with my kids (ages 5 and 11). Sounds simple right? WRONG. The 5yo knocked his into the coals immediately, the 11yo's somehow didn't cook through even though it was on there for like 45 minutes, and mine was basically charcoal.
We ended up eating PB&J sandwiches at 8pm while the kids were cranky and I was genuinely annoyed at myself. Does anyone have a campfire meal that actually works or should I just accept that camping means cereal for dinner?
Foil packets are honestly way harder than they look. The ones that didn't cook probably weren't in the hot coals long enough or the coals weren't hot enough yet. Everyone learns this the hard way.
