Camping in the driveway - actually genius

My kids (6 and 9) have been begging to camp but I'm not ready for the full tent situation with all the logistics. Last Friday I set up a tent in the driveway and we did hot dogs on the fire pit, told scary stories, the whole thing. They had a blast, I slept decent, and if something went wrong I was literally 30 feet from the house. Felt like cheating but honestly this might be our go-to for a while. Anyone else do backyard camping? How do you keep the bugs manageable?
