Camping in the rain with a 4yo is an experience

We had a fun camping trip planned last weekend but forgot to check the forecast. Got rain Friday night through most of Saturday. The tent held up fine but everything gets wet anyway. My 4yo thought it was the best thing ever though. Jumping in puddles, watching the creek rise. We stayed in mostly, cooked hot dogs over the fire, played cards in the tent. My wife and I were stressed but kiddo made it fun. Sometimes the worst trips make the best memories I guess.

This is parenting in a nutshell. Plans go sideways but somehow the kids still have the time of their lives. I've learned the hard way that weather is just part of the deal now. The stories are always better when something goes wrong anyway.

This is exactly why I check the forecast like obsessively now. Nothing worse than being stuck in a tent with a soaked toddler who wants to be anywhere but there. How'd your kiddo handle it?

Rain camping with a 4yo sounds like an adventure that builds character. Or at least memories. Did your kid freak out or was he actually okay with it? Mine would have been losing it.

The forecast check... yeah I've made that mistake too. Pro tip for next time: the rainy trips usually end up being the ones they talk about forever. Your 4yo is gonna remember this one.

Haha, we did the same thing last month. Pro tip: bring extra socks and accept that everything will be damp. My 4yo actually had a blast jumping in puddles the whole time, so I guess that's a win?
