Camping trip almost ended in disaster

We set up the tent Saturday morning and I realized I left half the stakes at home. Had to improvise with branches and rope. It held up fine but my 8 year old spent the whole night worried it would collapse. He slept in the truck anyway. Next time I'm doing a checklist before we leave.

This is why I do a full inventory check the night before now. Lost my stakes twice the hard way.

Tent stake improvisation is a core dad skill. I've used tent pegs, sticks, rocks, whatever works. Glad you made it work and nobody ended up in a tree.
