Camping trip almost turned into a disaster

Took the kids camping at state park about two hours away. First night was great but Saturday morning it started raining hard and the tent was leaking in the corner where we stored our gear. We ended up packing up and heading to a hotel for the second night which kind of defeated the purpose but at least everyone stayed dry and happy. Definitely need a better tent for next time. Live and learn I guess.

Oof, the leaking tent during rain is every dad's nightmare. Did you manage to salvage the rest of the trip or did you have to pack it in? We've had a few camping close calls out here in Colorado with three kids.

Man, that's rough. The outdoors are one of my favorite ways to spend time with my son but yeah, weather can turn real quick. Props for getting them out there anyway, kids remember those trips even when things go sideways.
