Camping Trip Almost Went Sideways

Took the family camping for the first time this past weekend. Drove 3 hours to a state park, set up the tent, everything was going good. Then it rained hard Saturday night and water started getting in the tent. Had to pack everything up at 2am and drive home soaking wet. Kids thought it was an adventure. Wife was less amused. We're definitely going again though, just need a better tent. Any recommendations for 4-person tents that won't leak? Looking at Coleman but open to suggestions.

Oh man, rain on the first camping trip is rough. But honestly those are the stories you'll laugh about for years. Glad you got the tent up before it hit. How did the kids handle it?

That's the camping experience right there. Everything perfect until Mother Nature decides otherwise. Three hours is a hike to get rained on but at least you tried. Respect.
