Camping trip nearly killed me but kids want to go again next month

Took the boys camping up at Morrison Lake for the first time. I am NOT a camping guy. Got bitten to hell by mosquitos, forgot the camping pillow so I slept on a log basically, and we had to turn back on the hike because my 6yo got tired. But they caught their first fish and my oldest said it was "the best day ever" so I guess I'm planning trip number two. Anyone have tips for camping with young kids that won't break my sanity?

Next month give it another shot but bring some bug spray and an actual pillow. Your kids will remember these trips way more than you'll remember the mosquito bites.

Morrison Lake sounds brutal, man. My back will never recover from the piggyback rides so I feel your pain on the physical stuff. But if they want to go back, you're doing something right even if the mosquitos are terrible.

Three months in here and I'm so sleep deprived I'd probably forget my own head on a camping trip. You getting out there with your boys doing this stuff is awesome though, even when it sucks.
