Camping trip tips for families with young kids?
Taking the family camping for the first time in a few years. We have a 5yo, 8yo, and 10yo. Planning to go up to the mountains for Labor Day weekend. Looking for advice on what I'm forgetting. Already planning to bring a ton of snacks because apparently that's the only thing kids eat on camping trips. Should I rent a cabin or try tent camping? My wife wants the cabin option but I kind of want the full camping experience. Thoughts? Also any meal ideas that don't require a ton of prep work?
Don't overpack or overplan. The best part of camping with kids is just letting them run around and explore. Let them get a little dirty. That's the whole point.
Those ages are perfect for camping. Pro tip: bring enough food that they can snack constantly because they burn way more energy outdoors than you'd expect. And let them sleep in sleeping bags in the tent without being too strict about bedtime.
