Took the family camping for the first time last weekend. Forgot to check the weather forecast and we got hit with a thunderstorm. The tent wasn't set up right so water started getting in. Spent the whole night basically bailing water out and keeping the kids calm. They actually thought it was an adventure though so I guess it wasn't a total loss? Definitely buying a better tent.
At least you tried man. Some of my best family memories came from trips that went sideways. The kids will probably remember it better than a perfect trip anyway.

This is such a classic first camping trip story. Did you at least get everyone home safe? That's the main win. Second camping trip is always easier because you've learned like 50 lessons the hard way.
