Took the kids camping at our favorite spot and the weather forecast was totally wrong. Didn't bring enough firewood and it got way colder than expected. Ended up using the time to teach my oldest how to properly build a fire and gather kindling. We huddled in the tent with extra blankets and made it work. Kids actually slept better than usual and we're already planning the next trip.
Camping with kids and bad weather is basically a survival skill. Glad you made it through. Did the kids think it was an adventure or were they miserable?

Man, that's rough but sounds like you handled it well. The Minneapolis winters taught me that weather forecasts are just suggestions anyway. Hope the kids still had fun despite the cold!
