Camping trip was a disaster but also kind of amazing

Took the family up to the mountains for our first real camping trip. Tent leaked, burned the hot dogs, and my oldest got sick from eating trail mix for dinner. But then we sat around the fire and my 4 year old was so amazed by the stars that he didn't want to go to bed. We ended up just laying on our backs for like an hour talking about space. Honestly wouldn't trade that for anything. Gonna try again next month with a better tent and actual meal planning.

Man, that's the camping life right there. Burnt hot dogs and all, those are the moments your kids will actually remember. Hope the oldest feels better soon though.

This is exactly why we keep going back out there. Yeah it's messy and uncomfortable, but getting the boys away from screens and dealing with real stuff together, that's the good stuff. Tent can be fixed!

Ha, welcome to camping. At least you tried, that's more than a lot of people do with a newborn at home. Fingers crossed the next trip goes smoother.
