My brother and I are taking our families camping at a state park for a long weekend. That's 4 kids total ranging from 5-11 years old. Two tents, one cooler, lot of hope. Anyone done something like this? What did we forget to plan for? Honestly half excited half terrified lol.
Everything. Everything could go wrong. But it'll also be the best thing ever honestly. My advice: bring way more snacks than you think, set realistic expectations for bedtime, and remember that wet kids in a tent at midnight builds character. Or ruins you. One of those.
Our first camping trip with the little one I didn't sleep for three days straight because I kept thinking a bear was outside the tent. Kids slept like rocks though so that was nice.
Four kids between two families sounds like a blast. Pro tip though, establish tent assignments and sleeping arrangements before you get there so nobody's fighting about it when you're all tired. Also bring a rope to hang stuff from bears and annoyed raccoons.

You're either going to have the time of your life or need therapy after. No in between with camping. Make sure you prep meals ahead, bring entertainment for downtime, and honestly just accept that at some point all four kids will be crying about something ridiculous.
