Camping Trip with the Boys - Nearly Died of Embarrassment

Took my two oldest camping for the first time without my wife. Got there, set up the tent, made dinner, and everything was going great. Then I realized I forgot the lantern and we're fumbling around in the dark trying to find the bathroom. My 9 year old is losing his mind laughing at me and my 11 year old is silently judging. Didn't ruin the trip but definitely learned to use a checklist next time. Still beat though, sleeping under the stars with my kids.

This is the stuff that matters. Your boys are gonna remember that their dad took them camping way more than they'll remember if there was an awkward moment. You showed up and did it solo - that's the real win right there.

Wait you made it through a full camping trip with two kids and no backup? That's a win in my book. What was the embarrassing part? Because honestly getting them fed and sleeping in a tent is basically a miracle at that age.

First solo camping trip is a rite of passage. I took my 10 year old out last month and forgot to bring enough firewood. The look on his face when the fire went out was worth the laugh though.
