Camping trip with the boys went sideways but we made it work
Took the kids camping up in the mountains for Labor Day weekend. Packed everything up Friday night and got to the site around 10pm. Set up the tent in the dark which was dumb but whatever. Next morning we wake up and realize I forgot the camping stove fuel. No coffee, no hot breakfast. So we did the whole thing over the fire, made coffee in a pot with a stick as a handle. Eggs over the flames, toast on a grill grate. The kids still talk about it like it was the most fun they've ever had. Sometimes being unprepared works out.
The best camping trips are the disaster ones looking back. Something always breaks or goes off plan. Sounds like you kept everyone safe and fed which is honestly winning. Details?
