Started tearing out the old deck last Saturday thinking it would be a quick 2 day job. Found termites. Now I'm redoing the whole support structure. It's Wednesday and I'm still not done. My kids keep asking why daddy is so angry. Send help and energy drinks.
Two day project turned into a month project real quick huh? At least you caught the termites before they did more damage. Could have gotten way worse.
This is why I always budget triple the time I think a project will take. Nothing ever goes as planned when you get into the bones of it.
Been there brother. Found black mold in my deck joists two summers ago. Quick 2 day project turned into 3 weeks and a ton of money. At least you caught it?

Termites are a nightmare. We had the same thing happen when we were planning a deck upgrade. Ended up being way more expensive than the original project. Sorry man, that's rough.

How bad was the damage? We had a similar situation last year and it cost us about 3 grand to get it all treated and fixed. Hope yours isn't as extensive.
