Deck repair is way worse than I thought

Went to fix a couple rotten boards and ended up ripping out half the deck. There's water damage everywhere underneath. This was supposed to be a 2 hour job and now I'm looking at spending like 1500 bucks and a month of weekends fixing this thing. Anyone else had a small project turn into a nightmare?

Oof that's rough. Went down the same rabbit hole two summers ago. What started as replacing two boards turned into a 3 week project and a bigger bill than I wanted to admit to my wife.

Dude, this happened to me last year. Once you start pulling boards you realize the whole thing needs work. Budget for more than you think you will.

Water damage under the deck is sneaky stuff. You might want to have someone check the foundation while you're at it. Found out the hard way that's usually connected.
