Ripped out the old railing and extended the deck by 8 feet. Took 3 weekends of busting my butt. My dad came over and helped on day two. Learned a ton from him about structure and building right. Got the Permit, did it by code, and it looks solid. Kids have more space to run around and we actually have room for a proper table now. Feel like I can do anything after this. Next project is the shed out back.
That's a solid project and even better your dad came through to help. Those are the moments they stick with you. Eight feet is a real expansion too.
Working overtime a lot so I don't get three full weekends for projects like this, but when I do it's incredible. Your deck sounds killer and having your dad there makes it even better.
Three weekends of hard labor is no joke. Please tell me your kids were out there helping or at least appreciating what you were building. That's the payoff for all that work.

That's a solid weekend project. Eight feet is a big extension. How much did the new materials run you? I've been thinking about expanding our deck too but the cost keeps stopping me.
Nice work pushing through all three weekends. I know how easy it is to start a project and then let it drag on forever. The fact that you finished it means your family actually gets to use it now instead of just looking at an half-done deck.

Three weekends of hard work pays off. I'm usually covered in glue and scraps but I respect the commitment to DIY like that. Looks like it turned out great.
